Welcome to the website for St. John's Episcopal Church in Glenwood, Iowa! We welcome you to explore information about us and look forward to seeing you on Sunday!

Worship Time: Sunday @ 9:00am

A favorite hymn of mine:

1 In the bleak midwinter, frosty wind made moan,
 earth stood hard as iron, water like a stone;
 snow had fallen, snow on snow, snow on snow,
 in the bleak midwinter, long ago.

The first verse says it all about this day.  As a result the roads are bad and the service today has been canceled.

Upper most in our minds is for all to be safe and warm.  Be surrounded by Christ's all encompassing love.  Keep Christmas in your hearts as it says in the last verse of this hymn

4 What can I give him, poor as I am?
 If I were a shepherd, I would bring a lamb;
 if I were a Wise Man, I would do my part;
 yet what I can I give him: give my heart.

Merry Christmas to one and all

O come all ye faithful!  Celebrate the birth of Christ our Lord at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.  The church is in festive greenery and we will share candlelight as we sing Silent Night.

Softly, ever so gently He comes.  May His silent coming touch you with love, enfold you in peace and fill you with hope.  Christmas blessings!

Stations of the Cross

In light of the impending severe weather for this evening (April 1), we have decided to cancel the service tonight.  No sense in getting caught in it as predictions are for it to hit around the 6:00 hour.

Maundy Thursday and Good Friday service will be at 6:00 as planned.

Sunday, January 4

"in the bleak mid-winter, frosty wind made moan, earth stood hard as iron, water
like a stone"   These words are the beginning lines of a hymn I had chosen for today.
It is certainly true this morning.  Because of the extreme cold, iffy road conditions
and in the interest of safety for our travelers, we have decided to cancel the service

God Bless and stay warm
